Between two seas
Gut Osterrade is in the parish of Bovenau, district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Schleswig-Holstein.
Just a few hundred metres to the north, the Kiel Canal links the two seas
The estate boundaries are marked by the former Eider Canal and the River Eider.
This is a thinly-populated area, with just 41 inhabitants per square kilometre. This means that there is plenty of room and ideal conditions for breeding thoroughbred Holsteiner horses.
The manor house with its park, stables (32 boxes), riding arena and riding hall are situated in 12 acres of pasture land that is exclusively reserved for the horses.
This idyllic location is remote, yet enjoys good transport links and is easy to reach.
You can fly to Hamburg, and from there you drive north for 100 kilometres on the A7 until you reach the motorway interchange (Autobahnkreuz) Rendsburg. There you follow the signs for the A210 towards Kiel. Take the Bovenau/Bredenbeck exit, drive through Bovenau and follow the signs for Sehestedt. Gut Osterrade is on the left-hand side.
If coming from Flensburg on the A7 (southbound), drive to the Rendsburg interchange and then onto the A210 towards Kiel. Then proceed as described above.
